Title: How does it work?
Date: 23 / 7 / 2018

What is a pair of scissors, and what is it used of it? A pair of scissors consists of a pair of sharp blades
that is rotated so that the sharpened edges would slide against each other when the handles are closed,
That’s why you must be supervised by an adult. It is used for cutting thin things such as paper, plastic,
rubber, cloth, etc. When using scissors, you can see that the pair of blades slide against each other and
you can hear the scissors snip! If you touch the metal blade of the scissors, it would feel quiet cold. If the
scissors are kinda rusty, it would smell kinda fishy. When using scissors for the first time, you must be
supervised by an adult.

How do we use scissors?
Step 1:
Grab and hold the scissors.

Step 2:
Put your thumb and your other fingers to the two handles.

Step 3:
Now, if you put the handles together, the scissors will be closed. And if you pull them apart, the scissors
would be opened.
Merika:
I like how you changed your words into more interesting words.

I also like how you wrote steps from using scissors.

I think you need to work on more punctuation.

Novel Study

Novel Study

This week in Literacy, we're gonna be learning about what a narrative (novel) is, about characters, and questioning. A narrative is a Fiction or a Fairy Tale. It has a problem, and a solution too. You also need to put a setting where the scene happened. At the end, you also can put a conclusion. It also needs to have characters. Characters needs to have names, voice, and talent. The novel also needs the main character. What is questioning? Questioning is like what good readers do which is questioning themselves as they're reading. It's also like asking questions before reading and during reading.

Facts about Brazil and Facts about Carnival

This week in Reading, we have been writing about Brazil and the Carnival. We needed to make notes. I found it challenging when you need to research some stuff and add it to your notes. Whatsoever, I found it easy on making the facts/notes.

Facts About Brazil

Official Name: Federal Republic of Brazil
Area:  3,286,470 square miles (8,511,965 square kilometres)
Population: 183, 888, 841
Official Language: Portuguese
Capital: Brasilia

Brazil is the largest country in South America and it’s the fifth largest nation in the world. Brazil is the only country in South America that speaks Portuguese. Brazil covers 3 time zones.

The Brazilian landscape is very varied. It is most well known for its dense forests, including the Amazon, the world’s largest rainforest, in the north. The Amazon is not one river but a network of many hundreds of waterways. Its total length stretches 6,840km, making it the longest river on Earth. Thousands of species live in the river, including the infamous piranha and the boto, or pink river dolphin.

Brazil is also home to the world’s largest carnival – Rio Carnival

Most Brazilians are descended from three ethnic groups: Amerindians, European settlers (mainly from Portugal) and Africans. Brazilians are crazy about football, and their country has produced some of the most popular players in the world! Brazil has won the FIFA World Cup finals five times, more than any other nation.

Portugal established its first colony in Brazil in 1530. Colonists created sugarcane plantations along the coast and sent diamonds and gold back to Europe. Soon, people from West Africa were brought to Brazil to work as slaves. The discovery of large inland gold reserves brought thousands of people from the coasts and abroad to the interior of the country.
