Day 1 - Bonus Activity: In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

think that the poem is trying to tell us a message, that we are lucky to live in a safe country, saved by the ones that's already up in the sky. I feel thankful for the heroes that gave up their lives just to save their country. They have been really brave, and fearless, they deserve to be always remembered, and never forgotten. I feel sad for the families that they have left, because I don't know how they lived without their loved ones. But we all know they're all in a better place now.

Day 1 - Activity 2: The right to vote

The fact that women weren't allowed to vote until 2015, in Saudi Arabia is just unfair. I think that women is also like men, they deserve the right to vote, because they have their own opinions, and men may have a different opinion on what or who they think deserves to be in the certain position. Women should be treated just like how we treat men.

summer Learning Journey (Bonus Activity Day 1)

Day 1: (Bonus Activity: Waka Ama)

I think joining and participating in a Waka Ama race would be fun and exciting, but at the same time, i think it would be tiring, because as I saw on the video, they had to keep on sailing all at the same time, or else the waka won't move, and they had to keep on doing that until they reach the finish line.

Summer Learning Journey (Activity 2)

Day 1: (Activity 2)

Dear Shreya,

How are you? So, my family have recently thought on going on a trip to New Zealand,  using the waka that my dad bought yesterday. I just wanted to let you know, so you wouldn't worry on where I am.

I'll be leaving on Saturday, and I'll be there for quite a while. To be honest, I feel anxious because it's actually my first time riding a waka. I hope it's gonna be a safe journey, because my dad told me that it's gonna take long to go there. I also hope the waves will be gentle, since I don't want to get dizzy just because the waka moves a lot.

I hope you won't worry about me a lot, and have a great day!

Sincerely,

Angie

Summer Learning Journey Day 1

For our Summer Learning Journey, we have started completing our practice questions.

Activity 1:

Fact 1: Maui's brothers doesn't want him to go fishing with them, because they say that he doesn't know how to, and he's still so young, and skinny.

Fact 2: Maui is persistent, he kept on trying, and he proved his brothers that he also can do what they can do.

Fact 3: He used his failure as a motivation to keep on trying, and never give up.
